This is a fantastic set of four antique horse brasses mounted on their original leather harness strap. Each brass is a heavy, solid-cast piece featuring classic motifs: a heraldic lion, a majestic galleon, a horse head within a lucky horseshoe, and a traditional bull.
These are genuine late Victorian to early Edwardian pieces, evident from the authentic sand-cast texture and visible get marks on the reverse. They have developed a wonderful deep patina over the years, with traces of verdigris in the recesses that really highlight the cast details. The leather is aged and firm, holding the brasses securely as it has for decades. It's a very honest, uncleaned set with a great weight and feel to it.
