An authentic late Victorian photo locket brooch pendant, dating to circa 1890–1910.
Crafted in solid 800 silver with a scalloped crimped outer border, the circular front showcases hand-engraved multi-tone 9ct yellow and rose gold floral blossoms and leaf foliage set against an oxidized silver background in a distinct Art Nouveau design.
While the brooch is unhallmarked (as was standard for many regional European pieces of the period), the frame tests as 800 silver and the applied floral elements test as 9ct gold. Continental European countries frequently used 800 silver for fine jewellery during this era due to its superior strength and durability for holding glass bezels and pin mechanisms.
The reverse features a removable glass bezel ring that opens to reveal an original period paper photographic portrait of a young gentleman in formal attire.
It is fitted with an authentic period-correct soldered C-clasp, extended pin stem, and an integrated top loop allowing it to be worn either as a brooch pin or suspended as an Art Nouveau pendant locket.
Good antique condition for its age. Tested 800 silver with tested 9ct gold floral highlights. The gold accents retain strong detail and warm luster, and the original glass lens is intact and clear. The pin stem closes properly, and the reverse bezel ring holds securely.
