An original early 19th-century solid brass door knocker. Cast in a heavy rope-twist ring design, it features two detailed bull heads meeting at the top. The reverse is stamped with an independent foundry maker's mark featuring a crescent or 'C' above an inverted 'B' and a standard 'B'. The substantial casting offers excellent weight and durability.
It is in fantastic antique condition. The brass has developed a beautiful, authentic patina over the years that perfectly highlights the intricate details of the metalwork, while remaining completely sturdy and functional. It comes complete with its mounting bolt and brass cap nut.
