This antique Mamluk Revival solid brass jug features hand-etched Arabic calligraphy cartouches, dense geometric interlace, and arabesque scrollwork. Originating from Egypt or Syria, this bell-shaped pitcher includes a soldered side loop handle, a hand-inscribed base, and black bitumen infill highlighting the detailed engraving.
If used as a bud vase, it is recommended for dry flowers only as it may not be watertight. The hand-engraved brass shows an authentic aged patina throughout with dark oxidized accents in the etched grooves, light surface tarnishing, and minor soldering marks consistent with age in very good antique condition.
