This circa 1930 vintage English cast brass sanctuary bell features embossed Latin inscriptions around the waist reading S MATHEVS, S JOHANES, S LVCAS, and S MARCVS. Each inscription corresponds to detailed relief carvings depicting the symbols of the Four Evangelists: the Angel of St Matthew, the Eagle of St John, the Ox of St Luke, and the Lion of St Mark.
Constructed with a heavy top hanging loop, the crown is accented by foliate scrollwork. Inside, it retains its internal clapper suspended on a wire loop. The heavy brass exhibits a characterful aged surface patina with dark antique finish in the recesses and natural verdigris highlights inside the bell.
