An exceptionally rare and intriguing 94-page wartime artifact that blends British aristocratic society with international political solidarity. Compiled by The Countess of Effingham and published by Hutchinson & Co. in 1944, this volume features recipes and war-work portraits from prominent titled women, specifically adapted for the era of food rationing.

This piece is a primary example of the "Aid to Russia" movement in Britain, with all proceeds originally dedicated to medical supplies and "comforts" for children in Soviet Russia. The striking cover and dust jacket uniquely feature the Soviet hammer and sickle alongside British regal motifs.

This copy is in good vintage condition and, notably, retains its original dust jacket. While the jacket shows some signs of age-related wear, including minor foxing and small chips to the edges, it remains bright and intact, preserving the important back-cover advertisements for other contemporary Hutchinson "Russian Interest" titles. The internal pages and portrait photographs remain clear and well-preserved. This is a significant find for any serious collector due to its scarcity and historical weight.

This volume would suit a collector of Soviet-British relations, a WWII home front historian, or an enthusiast of unique vintage cookbooks.
