This vintage lot features a circular British royal memorabilia tin from the late 1930s paired with an authentic early 20th-century postcard found safely kept inside.
The tin lid displays a famous formal portrait of King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, and the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, captured by the celebrated society photographer Marcus Adams. It was produced to mark the 1937 Coronation era. Inside, the tinted photographic Easter postcard features a charming spring scene on the front, while the reverse holds a handwritten pencil message sent just months before the outbreak of WWI. It is complete with a green half-penny King George V stamp and a clear Morecambe postmark dated April 13, 1914.
The handwritten message reads: "Dear Elsie, We are having lovely weather here + plenty of people. hope you have a good Easter. love to your Mother. M A Coldwell" It is addressed to: Miss Barr, 12 Beasly Place, High St., Gt. Horton, Bradford.
