This antique (published circa 1890) hardback edition of Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb was published by Blackie's School as part of their classic School and Home Library series. Bound in a sturdy red cloth with black stamped lettering and a decorative border, this 221-page volume was a staple of early 20th-century education. The book remains in good vintage condition; while the covers show some light shelf wear including thd spime cover being somewhat frayed, and the pages have developed a warm patina and foxing over the last century, the binding is secure and the text remains perfectly legible. It features a charming period inscription on the title page.

This volume would suit a collector of early educational books, a teacher's desk display, or a shelf focused on a rustic, academic aesthetic.
