A mid-century Czech marionette depicting a fairytale Princess character. Crafted with a hand-painted papier-mâché head wearing a small gold crown, yellow felt hair, hands, and gold painted shoes, with elasticated joints at the limbs for movement. She wears an ornate white lace gown with ruffled shoulder detailing, suspended from her central metal wire rod and original control strings.
In traditional Czech marionette theatre, Princess figures are essential lead characters in classic fairytale productions. Produced in Eastern Europe during the mid-20th century, this piece functions both as a performance puppet and as a charming piece of eclectic decor.
Measures approximately 17.5 x 7 cm, with a total height of 36 cm including the metal rod.
Care will be taken when packaging for postage, though some minor untangling of the strings may be needed when unpacked.
The condition is good with light age-related wear to the paintwork and fabric.
This piece would suit theatrical prop collectors, vintage toy enthusiasts, fairytale decor lovers, or bohemian interior displays.
