An authentic set of three mid-19th century Victorian Vauxhall glass pins, dating to circa 1850. Each pin features a five-petaled carved flower head set with thin black glass that glows rich crimson red when illuminated under direct light, mounted onto an iron/steel pin stem with a japanned finish.
In mid-19th-century Victorian fashion and mourning etiquette, small Vauxhall glass accent pins were used to fasten lace collars, veils, or cravats, or inserted as decorative floral accents into hair updos.
Good antique condition for their age. All three black glass flower heads remain intact, glossy, and securely fixed to their metal stems. The metal pin shafts show natural age-appropriate darkening and light surface oxidation, with straight, functional pointed tips.
