This vintage 0.5L aluminium teapot is a striking example of mid-to-late 20th-century Soviet design, beautifully finished in the traditional Russian Khokhloma folk art style. While Khokhloma work historically adorned turned wooden tableware, Soviet factories cleverly adapted this iconic look for stamped domestic metalware during the 1970s and 1980s. The exterior features the classic, hand-painted freehand motif of vibrant red berries, flowing green foliage, and rich golden scrollwork against a stark black background.
The unique golden surface was achieved through a multi-step factory lacquer process where an aluminium or tin powder base was coated with oil varnish and kiln-baked, turning the clear finish into a deep amber-gold hue. The interior is clean with its original built-in spout strainer holes intact, and the lightweight, heat-resistant handle remains sturdy. The base retains its crisp, stamped Soviet markings, including the capacity metric (0.5л) and the original fixed state price stamp (Ц 3-00), offering fantastic historical provenance for collectors of USSR memorabilia.
The condition is very good vintage condition, with some cosmetic wear as is expected of a vintage piece. The colours remain bright and vibrant.
