A genuine mid-century example of British toy manufacturing, this vintage animal figure was produced by the renowned British manufacturer Timpo Toys (Toy Importers Ltd.). Expertly crafted using the traditional hollow-cast lead method, this heavy, tactile piece displays excellent historic character and period charm. The underside features the classic moulded details typical of Timpo's production line during their golden era of metal manufacturing. In good condition, it is structurally sound with authentic cosmetic wear due to age.

Founded in 1938 by Ally Salomon, Timpo Toys became one of the dominant names in post-war British toy production, competing directly with the likes of Britains. Following the Second World War, Timpo expanded rapidly, producing a vast and imaginative range of hand-painted hollow-cast metal figures, spanning farmyard scenes, wild animals, and historical militaria. By the late 1950s, changing safety regulations, rising material costs, and the advent of injection-moulded plastics forced a complete industry shift. Timpo phased out metal casting entirely to focus on their iconic plastic lines. Because of this relatively short production window, surviving post-war lead figures remain highly collectable tokens of Britain's traditional toy industry.

Dimensions: 7.5 x 2 x 3cm
