A striking vintage butterfly brooch pin handcrafted with natural iridescent abalone (paua) shell inlay. The wings display shimmering, luminous colors ranging from peacock greens and deep ocean blues to magenta pinks under changing light.

Framed in a silver-toned metal casing with openwork filigree antennae and wing scrolls. The reverse is fitted with a long pin stem and a roll-over safety catch.

Good vintage condition. All abalone shell inlay panels are present, intact, and retain vibrant iridescence. The silver-toned metal casing and reverse base exhibit natural vintage tarnish and light surface patina, while the pin mechanism closes securely.
