A beautiful mid-century Italian Baroque style picture frame, cast with an intricate openwork filigree border featuring ornate classical scrolls, shell motifs, and dramatic flourishes. Stamped "Made Italy" on the reverse, the solid metal frame features a classic antiqued gilt finish and houses its original oval convex domed glass.
The frame currently contains a vintage Romantic classical print depicting a pastoral, mythological, or Renaissance style scene of a couple in a wooded landscape, which is permanently affixed to the original backing. While the vintage print shows signs of wear, it does add to the overall vintage character, however a new photograph, painting, or silhouette can easily be layered directly in front of it. The piece is being sold for the exceptional decorative appeal of the frame itself.
