This is a vintage set of brass apothecary or diamond scales, designed for portable precision weighing. These types of balance scales were commonly used by chemists, jewelers, or even for weighing mail and gold.

The set is housed in a wooden "pocket" case with a vibrant blue velvet-lined interior. Based on the markings on the weights the set uses metric measurements (grams).

Condition & Components

The brass components show a lovely natural patina consistent with age, giving them a genuine antique character. The wooden case is structurally sound, and the blue velvet lining remains bright and provides a striking contrast to the brass.

The set includes five brass weights, the scales, a rod and a secured base. There is one large weight missing and a pair of tweezers.

Dimensions & Weight

Case Dimensions: 3cm x 18.5cm x q0cm

Total Weight: 240g

This piece would suit a collector of scientific instruments or someone looking for a unique curiosity for a bookshelf or study. It would also suit a rustic or dark academia decor style, where the aged brass and velvet add a touch of historical interest.
