Crafted in Mexico circa 1970, this mid-century butterfly brooch features hand-set abalone shell panels forming both the wings and body casing. Delicate silver-tone wire antennae extend from the top, while the iridescent shell displays brilliant peacock-green, turquoise, and violet tones. Stamped ALPACA MEXICO on the reverse, it fastens with a classic pin stem and revolving safety catch.
